The ever-expanding Leeds Comedy Festival is back, this time bigger and better than ever, featuring three venues, 29 shows and 40 comedians, from stand up to sketch comedy, Leeds Comedy Festival runs from 4th June till 11th June.
Run by Leeds Comedy promoter Toby Jones, the festival started small (but perfectly formed) at The Wardrobe in Leeds’ Cultural Quarter. The festival has big plans to increase capacity year on year and make the festival vital in the comedy touring circuit in years to come.
This year headliners include the Welsh comedian Milton Jones, who will be bringing his Gold Mining in Progress show to Leeds, as well as one of the leading hidden masters of modern British comedy Richard Herring, Star of BBC 1’s Uncle and 8 Out Of 10 Cats guest Nick Helm plus multi-award winning television personality Stephen K Amos.
Also performing at the festival will be the wonderfully weird Paul Foot, who will be previewing his upcoming Edinburgh Fringe show ‘Tis A Pty She’s A Piglet’ at the Wardrobe, as well as Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ Phill Jupitus, while over at the Hifi Club, ‘The Now Show’ contributor Mitch Benn will be performing his acclaimed ‘Don’t Fear The Reaper’ show. Milo’s will play host to a number of excellent comedians, including Ellie Taylor & Carl Hutchinson who will both be performing previews of their upcoming Edinburgh Fringe shows.
