Leeds bar prepares for charity pancake challenge.

#ShroveTuesdayChallenge will raise cash for Leeds Flood Appeal

Leeds bar and restaurant Angelica has set a challenge for local pancake lovers this Shrove Tuesday. On February 9th, visitors who can polish off a stack of pancakes will receive their meal for free and trigger a donation from Angelica to the Leeds Flood Appeal.

Participants will have 15 minutes to eat 15 pancakes, topped with whipped cream and syrup. If successful, the pancakes are free and Angelica will make a £10 donation to the Leeds Flood Appeal. However, if any food remains on the plate, diners will have to pay the £15 for their food.

Running from midday until 9 pm, there will also be a £100 cash prize for the person who eats all of their pancakes in the quickest time.

The challenge aims to raise money for the Leeds Flood Appeal, a fund providing support to families, businesses, charities and community projects affected by the unprecedented flooding seen in December 2015.

Mark Morris, Angelica & Crafthouse General Manager, said: “While making pancakes at home can be fun, we’re confident the crêpes coming out of the Angelica kitchen on Shrove Tuesday will be the tastiest in Leeds. Eating one a minute, for fifteen minutes, should be a tough challenge for even the sweetest tooth.

“The flooding in December hit many local people and businesses really hard, so we’re happy to have the opportunity to give a little something back to the city.”
