Charity, South Asian Arts-uk (SAA-uk) is hosting ‘Gaata Rahe Mera Dil’ (may my heart keep singing from the 1950 film, GUIDE) a charity ball event presenting the very best of the Golden Era on Indian Cinema music.
Keranjeet Kaur Virdee, CEO, SAA-uk, explains; “We’re known for hosting lots of family events, so this time we wanted to put something extra special and magical on for the adults, especially at this time of the year, when people need a real reason to venture out and enjoy themselves. We’re delighted to have secured renowned Indian artists, Pooja Angra and Karan Rana, they are currently touring as part of an Arts Council England funded tour and will be treating us to a jam packed night full of Indian classical Bollywood.”
The duo will perform popular hits, including Barsaat Ki Raat, Mugal-e-Azam from the 1960’s, Love in Shimla, on Saturday 6th February at the White Rose Banqueting Suite. Guests will be welcomed into an opulent banqueting suite and taken on a unique journey through the greatest Bollywood classics and latest sensations.
The famous duet will sing hits from past Bollywood films, allowing the true connoisseurs of classical music to enjoy the art of improvisation, as well as performing modern Bollywood, all combined with playing a unique mix of instruments including harmonium, keyboard, tabla, saxophone and octopod sounds.
The evening will start at 7pm, a three course buffet of home cooked delights will be served at 7.30pm, before the duo begin at 8.30pm, playing through until 9.45pm.
The event hopes to raise money for SAA-uk’s academy and in particular Project AVA. An initiative which gives children with learning disabilities the access toculturally diverse music -making opportunities.
