WORLD CLASS PIANISTS

World class pianists from across the globe will take to the stage at Leeds Town Hall later this month to compete for one of classical music’s most prestigious prizes.

And for the first time ever, the glittering finale of this year’s Leeds International Piano Competition will be shown on the big screen at Millennium Square on September 14.

The exciting contest has been attracting the world’s finest pianists to the city since 1963, with this year’s event running September 6-15 and featuring 24 of the very best pianists from 16 countries.

With the finals set to take place over two nights in Leeds Town Hall, just a handful of tickets are still available.

But those who don’t manage to get a seat at the town hall can still catch some spectacular musical performances at the free Millennium Square screening of the final on Friday, September 14.

The performance will see the three of the finalists each perform a full concerto with the superb Hallé Orchestra and will be the first stage of the two-night final.

The competition includes a top prize of £25,000 for the winner as well as a recording contract with Warner Classics, the Dame Fanny Waterman Gold Medal, a concert tour and an appearance with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra
