Ilona Domnich joins the Gould Piano Trio for the final concert of Russian music in the 2017/18 Leeds International Chamber Season

The final concert in this season’s International Chamber Season: Russia in Revolution takes place on Tuesday 6 March at The Venue, Leeds College of Music. The season’s curator, the Gould Piano Trio, is joined by acclaimed soprano Ilona Domnich to perform music by two Great Russian composers: Shostakovich and Rachmaninov.

Ilona Domnich joins the Gould Piano Trio. Soprano Ilona was born in St Petersburg and studied at the Royal College of Music. She was discovered by Vera Rozsa who invited her to join the Royal College of Music after hearing her sing in a vocal masterclass. Ilona went on to win the prestigious Wingate Scholarship and has worked with acclaimed musicians such as Enid Hartle, Yvonne Kenny, Joan Rodgers and Ludmilla Andrew. Ilona has performed many solo recitals at prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican, Symphony Hall, and Bridgewater Hall. Her leading roles include performances with the English National Opera, Grange Park and Buxton Festival Opera and the English Touring Opera.

The Gould Piano Trio is regularly heard on BBC Radio 3 performing a surprisingly broad range of repertoire. The ensemble has toured internationally across Europe, Australia and America and is an ensemble in residence at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. The Gould Piano Trio has developed a close relationship with Wigmore Hall in London and in 2017, celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Curated by the Gould Piano Trio, Leeds International Chamber Season 2017/18: Russia in Revolution explores music surrounding the Russian Revolution following its recent centenary.
