Phoenix Dance Theatre bring 180 young dancers together to raise awainess of HIV and AIDS.
Phoenix Dance Theatre is to present an evening of work to commemorate people affected by AIDS and HIV as part of a series of events taking place around the country for World AIDS Day.
180 young dancers from Leeds and London present an evening of work to commemorate people affected by AIDS and HIV at Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, Quarry Hill, Leeds LS2 7PA on Friday 27 November at 7.30pm
ResTec, due to take place Friday 27 November, is one of three annual youth dance platforms held by Phoenix Dance Theatre at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, located in Leeds on Quarry Hill. This one-off performance brings together 180 young people including four local school groups, two groups from the Phoenix Youth Academy and three visiting dance groups from London who share their work as an evening of exciting and thought-provoking dance.
The platform is supported by West Yorkshire Sport, who enable young people disengaged with physical activity, both in and outside of school, to have access to physical activity. Students have been preparing for the performance with six weeks of rehearsals and workshops exploring the themes and creating a dance piece for each group to perform as part of the event.
As part of the ResTec platform, Monday 30th November will also see Phoenix Dance Theatre take their two Youth Academy groups to London to perform at ResTec London at Stratford Circus.
