A hundred-strong orchestra of the country’s finest young musicians is gearing up for its upcoming performance at Leeds Town Hall on Saturday 13 August – all of them thirteen years of age or younger!
National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain performances are a regular feature at Leeds Town Hall, and the Under 13 Orchestra members are determined to impress audiences yet again.
The young musicians will spend just over a week rehearsing together at Sedbergh School, in Cumbria, before its performance in Leeds. The musicians will have eight days together at the school where they will enjoy a combination of rehearsals and recreation. The school has stunning grounds for the children to have fun and relax in when they are not rehearsing.
The performance is guaranteed to delight and inspire audiences of all ages. The children’s enthusiasm matches that of NCO’s Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Roger Clarkson: “We cannot wait to deliver another triumphant concert in Leeds. When you hear this Orchestra perform you are guaranteed to be inspired by the passion and commitment of our young musicians. Close your eyes and I guarantee you will forget you are listening to an Orchestra made up of players aged thirteen years of age and younger!”
Its performance is guaranteed to delight and inspire music lovers of all ages. Audience members can expect to witness a variety of stirring classical pieces including Saint-Saëns spine-tingling Danse Macabre, Strauss Jnr’s Overture to Die Fledermaus and Borodin’s descriptive In the Steppes of Central Asia.
Founded in 1978, the National Children’s Orchestras has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues and locations, including the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing.
