As part of its on-going partnership with The Football Association (The FA) Lidl has launched interactive ‘Lidl Football Zones’ across the UK to give youngsters the chance to get more involved in the sport. The next session kicks off in Leeds City Centre, 21st May and aims to raise awareness of the national FA Skills programme – supported through Lidl’s partnership.
Lidl Football Zones will feature a selection of skills-based challenges run by expert FA Skills coaches who will talk the children through the obstacles and offer advice on how to improve. The Football Zones will include activities to test speed and reactions as will as a Trolley Chip Challenge, which invites players to try and kick the ball into Lidl trolleys to score points, the skills tasks are designed to be fun for children of all abilities. Alongside this, families and Leeds residents can sample Lidl’s fresh fruit and veg and learn how to get involved with their local FA Skills programme.
The Lidl Football Zones are just one of the ways the brand has committed to supporting grassroots football as part of a wider partnership deal with The FA, the Scottish FA and the Football Association of Wales. The FA Skills programme aims to provide professional coaching and around 1.2 million opportunities for boys and girls to play annually within a fun, friendly and safe environment. The investment from Lidl will support the existing FA Skills programme in England and the Skills Centres in Scotland and will make it possible for The FAW to launch the first skills programme of its kind in the country.
The Lidl Football Zone takes place at Leeds City Centre, Briggate, Leeds, LS1 6 on 21st May.
