Fancy welcoming a gang of pickpockets into your home?
What if we tell you that the pickpockets in questions are actually the fantastic cast of Oliver Twist, Leeds Playhouse and Ramps on the Moon’s bold new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel.
When the production was cancelled mid-run last year by the first lockdown, audiences were left wanting more. Now, they are being given the opportunity to join Oliver, Fagin, Dodger and the gang in a digital adventure from the comfort of their own home as a specially-filmed version of the hit production is released exclusively online from 25 October – 20 November via Playhouse: At Home
Director Amy Leach said: “When we first staged Oliver Twist at the beginning of 2020, we were overwhelmed by the response to this pioneering production and heartbroken that it had to be paused. I’m delighted that we’re now able to share this epic boundary-pushing show with audiences digitally, to showcase the creative possibilities of work which places access and inclusion at the very heart of the theatre-making process.”
Oliver Twist builds on the success of previous Ramps on the Moon productions including Our Country’s Good, The Who’s Tommy and The Government Inspector. The production is sponsored by Leeds Playhouse’s Access Partner, Irwin Mitchell.
The Ramps on the Moon consortium comprises Leeds Playhouse, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse, Sheffield Theatres, New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich and Theatre Royal Stratford East.
