Stephen Sondheim’s peerless music and lyrics are echoing around Leeds Playhouse as rehearsals get into full swing for A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, the exciting new co-production between the Playhouse and Opera North.
Featuring the classic song ‘Send in the Clowns’ and a cast that includes the legendary Dame Josephine Barstow, this new production is the latest collaboration between Opera North and Leeds Playhouse, following the critically acclaimed Into the Woods in 2016 and Connecting Voices, which gave audiences a brief respite from lockdown in October 2020.
Directed by the Playhouse’s Artistic Director James Brining, conducted by James Holmes, and featuring Opera North favourites Stephanie Corley and Quirijn de Lang, and the company’s award-winning Chorus, audiences can expect a glorious evening that is heart–warming and heart–breaking in equal measure.
A Little Light Music plays in The Quarry Theatre at Leeds Playhouse from 26 June – 17 July.
