The JazzLeeds international Spring 2020 programme starts at @SevenArts in Chapel Allerton on Thursday 6 February with Swedish jazz singer Emilia Mårtensson Quintet.
The international flavour continues on Saturday 15th February with two of the most original improvisers on either side of the Atlantic. US pianist Ethan Iverson, one of New York’s finest and most innovative pianists and Britain’s Martin Speake on sax – reviving a partnership with that goes back over a decade.
Ian Shaw, teams up with urbane saxophonist and composer Iain Ballamy, irrepressibly brilliant pianist Jamie Safir as part of their “What’s New” tour on Thursday March 19th.
Whilst pianist and composer Nikki Iles brings her 18 piece orchestra to Seven Arts on March 28 Expect great jazz from top-drawer musicians highlighting Nikki’s distinctive creative voice.
Thursday April 30 sees the return of “Sound of 59”, a group by bassist Adrian Knowles that were a hit at last year’s Jazz Leeds Festival followed on Thursday 7 May by the visit of Lukas Oravec a wonderful young Slovakian trumpet player.
