Four emerging artists are completing their year-long talent development programme supported by Tetley’s Beer. After a successful inaugural year, we are launching the second call-out for artists.

Tetley’s and the original home of Tetley’s Brewery, The Tetley, now a centre for contemporary art and learning, have announced a call-out for the second cohort of four artists to be supported on the Tetley’s Associate Artists Programme (TAAP). The programme will support a further four emerging artists based in the region, with a bespoke programme of mentoring and development over 12 months. Artists will be selected by a panel including Bryony Bond, Director of The Tetley; Helen Pheby, Head of Curatorial Programme at Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Simeon Barclay, artist.

The programme’s second cohort will work in partnership with The Tetley until August 2020. Artists chosen will demonstrate a strong direction in their practice, but will benefit from external support and recognition from a public art gallery to take their talent to the next level. Each selected artist will have a budget to spend on bespoke needs such as; guest mentorship, curatorial visits, research trips, developing work and building networks. See thetetley.org for information on how to apply.

The inaugural TAAP cohort has seen Emii Alrai, Alice Chandler, Michaela Cullen and Harlan Whittingham develop over the past year through bespoke mentoring and development sessions. The Tetley will continue an ongoing relationship with all artists following the end of TAAP in September. Hear from the artists’ experiences of TAAP, and what future emerging artists can get out of this experience.
