George Hinchcliffe’s Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain performs a festive concert at Leeds Town Hall on Saturday 22 December.

Widely regarded as something of a British institution after an epic thirty three years on the road, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (UOGB) has enjoyed a successful career, touring the world and playing to capacity audiences at venues including The Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House and New York’s Carnegie Hall.

The UOGB brings an extra special festive show to Leeds Town Hall With Bells On, in which alongside their trademark reinterpretations of well-known pop songs, classical melodies and cult film scores (from Nirvana through to Wager and Ennio Morricone), the orchestra invites local ukulele enthusiasts to join in and sing or play along with a trio of seasonal favourites as the countdown to Christmas begins.

The huge popularity of the UOGB has spawned hundreds of imitators, and you can now find Ukulele Groups in nearly every major city. The popularity of the Orchestra is often credited for the current ukulele revival sweeping the globe as they have clocked up millions of views on YouTube, collaborated with Robbie Williams, Madness and the Kaiser Chiefs and have performed for Her Majesty The Queen on her ninetieth birthday.

Bring along your ukulele and spread the festive cheer. Tutorials and music for the play along can be found at ukuleleorchestra.com.

Tickets  available from the City Centre Box Office on 0113 376 0318 or click here.
