Opera North is launching a new initiative in Leeds city centre this month which will give people the opportunity to get creative at the start of the working week.
Styled as the antidote to Christmas carols and festive tunes, ON After Hours will take place at Headrow House at 6pm on a Monday evening for 11 weeks from 24 September (excluding 29 October). The participants will create a new performance piece together, taking their inspiration from the Northern Lights, and Nordic sagas, folklore and myths. Previous After Hours sessions have focused exclusively on singing, but these will encourage people to combine singing with storytelling and spine-tingling music, culminating in a performance at Headrow House during the final session on 10 December. The fee for attending the full course is £65.
Jacqui Cameron, Education Director, Opera North, said:
“We were keen to come up with an activity which would appeal to people who are looking for something different to do after they finish work. We’re hoping After Hours: Northern Lights will help Leeds professionals to unwind on a Monday evening, while also giving them the opportunity to meet new people and have an enjoyable, relaxing time creating something unique together.”
