Leeds Playhouse Costume Hire have customised a bespoke costume to be worn by Miss Playhouse as part of the Leeds Pride celebrations on Sunday 5 August.
The annual Leeds Pride celebration of the LGBTQ+ community will line the streets of Leeds in a colourful and joyous festival. For the second year running Miss Playhouse will be joined by a troupe of Playhouse staff, local artists and members of the Leeds Playhouse community, who will march through Leeds City Centre. Miss Playhouse will wear a bespoke costume handmade by the team from the theatre’s Costume Hire department.
Inspired by a Garden of Eden theme the staff and volunteers at Leeds Playhouse Costume Hire have created the bespoke outfit. Taking four days to customise, the costume is embellished with sequins, jewels and reams of multi-coloured tassels. The costume will also feature a matching fascinator and a three-meter wide fanned back piece.
Now in its twelfth year, Leeds Pride is the largest Pride event in the UK to still be completely free, with over 40,000 people attending over the weekend last year. The day begins with a parade round the streets of Leeds and culminates in an afternoon of vibrant entertainment in Millennium Square, and the Manchester Airport San Francisco Stage on Lower Briggate.
