DANCE ON

An iconic weekly event from the 90s that embedded itself firmly in the fabric of Leeds culture is making a much-anticipated comeback for one night only.

Fresh Jive was one of the UK’s most prolific hip hop events after launching in Leeds in 1998. Pioneering a movement in hip hop culture, it brought together local breakdancers to battle against some of the world’s best boys and girls, while home-grown MCs shared a stage with international hip hop artists.

Now 20 years later, the Leeds promoters who started it back in ‘98 are putting on a huge comeback event at Hyde Park Book Club to celebrate its anniversary and bring the inimitable Fresh Jive flavour back to the city.

Expect to be transported to downtown Brooklyn in Leeds’ very own Hyde Park suburb, with breakdance battles between young and old, live MC performances, and DJs going head-to-head for the dance floor’s votes.

The event takes place from 3.00pm to 12 midnight on Saturday 23 June
