Grade-I listed Carlton Towers, the Yorkshire home of Lord Gerald Fitzalan Howard and his family, is hosting a special Family Easter Afternoon Tea this Easter Sunday, April 1.
Held in the 17th-century stately home’s elegant staterooms, the afternoon tea will consist of a beautiful range of sandwiches, scones, cakes and pastries, as well as some special Easter surprises, all hand made in the estate’s magnificent original kitchens by the house’s expert catering team led by newly appointed Executive Chef David Martin.
Guests attending the Family Easter Afternoon Tea will be seated in either the Venetian Drawing Room, the Card Room or the Picture Gallery. These magnificent staterooms feature ornate, wood-panelled walls, exquisite paintings, high ceilings and regal chandeliers – all of which have recently graced our screens on TV shows such as ITV1’s hit drama Victoria and BBC1’s Love, Lies and Records.
In true Easter tradition the afternoon, which begins at 12.30pm, will include a scavenger hunt where children will be encouraged to answer questions and find clues around the house and in the estate’s manicured gardens. All children will receive a chocolate egg to take home with them.
Carlton Towers, outside Selby, is one of Yorkshire’s most elegant stately homes. Originally the Yorkshire home of the Duke of Norfolk, the estate has been revived by Lord Gerald Fitzalan Howard, the younger brother of the current Duke, and his wife Lady Gerald. Set in 250 acres of breathtaking parkland, it is a popular venue for weddings, special occasions and corporate events, and open to the public on select dates throughout the year for special afternoon teas, dinners and events.
