February 2018 marks the centenary of women winning the right to vote. To mark the occasion Emerald Publishing are hosting an event at the Howard Assembly Room in Leeds on 28th February at 6.00pm. Leading academics in gender, education and the world of work will discuss the position of women in 21st Century Britain. One hundred years on from this historic victory for women’s rights, has gender equality now been achieved or is there work still to be done? Emerald Publishing brings together academics in gender, education, and the world of work to discuss the position of women in 21st Century Britain to ask whether we still need a movement for women’s rights. Confirmed speakers are: · Eva Tutchell, co-author “The Stalled Revolution: Is Equality for Women an Impossible Dream?” · Joanna Williams, author “Women Vs Feminism: Why We All Need Liberating from the Gender Wars” · John Edmonds, co-author “The Stalled Revolution: Is Equality for Women an Impossible Dream?” All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Womankind Worldwide, who work in partnership with women’s rights organisations and movements to transform the lives of women and girls.
