The award-winning Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland once again opens its doors at McArthurGlen York Designer Outlet this weekend, on Saturday 19th November, open until Monday 2nd January.

Saturday’s fun starts with the arrival of Santa Claus at 11am, who will be leading a parade through the centre, accompanied by his elves, Narnia’s Ice Queen and other friends, before settling in to his Grotto in the Narnia-themed Christmas Village until Christmas Eve.

Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland is also home to the north of England’s largest outdoor ice rink, The Ice Factor, complete with a 30ft high Christmas tree.

PapaKitchen is the Alpine-themed café at The Ice Factor, which will offer an après-skate ambience of rustic wooden tables and benches complete with cosy furs and the warming scent of Glühwein. With a menu of delicious homemade fare – including hot dogs with Scandi-relish – and a licensed bar serving mulled wine, ales and hot chocolate, it’s the ultimate location for warming up after a session on the ice.

For the very first time, the funfair this year is solely comprised of vintage rides from the golden era of fairgrounds. Visitors can enjoy rare rides like the Brooklands Dodgems from 1937, a stunning 1930s Chair o Plane and a Ghost Train dating from the 1950s. The funfair will also include an exhilarating 1936 Speedway and two exquisite children’s rides, a 1947 Muffin the Mule Aerodrome and Hush Hush the Monorail, made in 1933. The rides have all been lovingly restored over the last few years by a team of local craftspeople.

The Ice Factor will be open daily from Saturday 19th November 2016 until Monday 2nd January 2017.Booking is recommended for skating at The Ice Factor, as well as for visits to Santa’s Grotto. Tickets for both, as well as tickets for the funfair, can also be purchased on site. For full details of prices and times visit www.yorkshireswinterwonderland.com or call 01653 619169.
