The Whitelock’s Annual Beer Festival is back! After the rip-roaring success of the inaugural event in 2015 – the oldest pub in Leeds is at it again, promising to bring all manner of rare, interesting and delicious beers to Leeds City Centre once more, starting at 5pm on 28 July and then all day for the next three days
Entitled ‘The New Europeans,’ the festival will showcase a tremendous selection of craft beers from mainland Europe, as well as special brews by UK brewers inspired by their European neighbours.
Beer aficionados have long known Whitelock’s Ale House as one of the strongest purveyors of British cask ale in the country, with 11 handpulls providing beer-lovers with a daily changing selection of real ales – from well-loved classics, to innovative new styles.
The beer list drawn up by festival organisers features special brews from across Europe, for example four Hungarian breweries such as Budapest’s CSUPOR, as well as brilliant beer from Belgium like cutting edge DE DOLLE brewery and the more traditional ST FEUILLIEN. Other examples include vanguard Italians BIRRIFICIO DEL DUCATO and BIRRIFICIO DEL DUCATO, not to mention start-up BREW AGE from Austria and many more.
UK breweries – especially those in Yorkshire – have been eager to get involved too – supplying a host of beers either drawing a heavy influence from European styles, or using high quality European malts, hops and yeast strains. |
